Running: Lake vs. the City
people in cars smile instead of making inappropriate remarks
the elderly pause on their walks to wave
deer (lot’s of them), wild turkeys, squirrels
the smell of fresh cut grass, clean air
the abscence of other runners (passing me by and making me feel like crap about myself)
a gentle breeze
I just hate it when a movie completely destroys the story the book created.
I’m up at the lake with my mom and my youngest sister and we’ve been catching up on the ‘08 Academy Award winners. So far, I’m not impressed.
Things I learned while I was at home…
You’ve really gotten old when the kids you used to babysit as infants are all grown up and in junior high
Your parents’ friends will gasp in disbelief when they find out how old you are, only to launch into a monologue about turning 30.
My family will still make me totally insane if I’m forced to spend more than two days with them.
Being the oldeset is effing exhausting.
My extended family is way too complicated and dysfunctional.
time for a little graduating
Mike and I are at my parent’s home to see four of my five siblings graduate (two from elementary school, one from middle school, and one from high school.) We’re busy, but it’s so good to be home enjoying small town life again.
If only the damn San Francisco weather hadn’t have followed us here …
Today I cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, then ate pizza, pizza, pizza! (Remember those commercials?!)
It was awesome, by the way. (The pizza part. Not the cleaning, obviously.)
I am mostly a homebody. I don’t like planes, and I always prefer to sleep in my own bed. But I got this cute faux suitcase as a gift for my birthday and every time I look at it I want to go somewhere.
Someday… Eventually… I hope…
(i’m not a good trip planner; too much commitment)
Too bad they haven’t figured out “smell o’ vision” yet, cause dang, my apartment smells like freshly baked chocolatey goodness and I wish I could share.
Boy, I’ve been MIA this week.
I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I can’t seem to think straight. And everything feels off somehow. But I’m working on returning to normal (if there is such a thing.)
things that are keeping me sane this weekend:
book club, The Reader, and we get to watch the movie, too
baking (and eating) german chocolate cake squares for book club
fance-shmance dinner at home: morrocan style roasted chicken & eggplant pilaf
ginger-lime cocktails and sulfite free, organic wine
a visit to the Union St. Festival
an all new running playlist
